III International Conference of the Humanities UAb

The III International Conference of the Humanities UAb is an initiative of Universidade Aberta´s Department of Humanities and is aimed at promoting scientific and interdisciplinary dialogue around central issues of the Humanities today. The two previous editions, held in 2023 and 2025, have firmly established this conference as a reference for academic debate, knowledge sharing and scientific cooperation in this field.

In its third edition, under the theme Discourses and narratives in motion, the conference proposes a broad reflection on the ways in which both forms circulate, reconfigure and produce meanings in social, cultural, historical and digital contexts marked by mobility, change and growing global interconnection. The initiative aims to bring together researchers, teachers and PhD students from different areas of the Humanities to discuss theoretical perspectives, methodologies and research that contribute to understanding how discourses and narratives structure identities, memories, imaginaries and social practices.

Without losing sight of the contemporary challenges associated with digital transformation and the accelerated circulation of discourses, the conference also reaffirms the centrality of traditional approaches to the Humanities – such as Literary, Cultural and Interart Studies, Linguistic Studies and Language Pedagogy, among others – as decisive fields for the critical understanding of forms of production, cultural transmission and interpretation.

Over three days, the event will host plenary conferences, academic papers and moments of interdisciplinary dialogue, reinforcing Universidade Aberta’s commitment to scientific innovation, the galvanizing of research communities and the international affirmation of the Humanities.
